Frame Cooperation Agreement between Siemens AG, Germany and ETU has been concluded in office of the Siemens Corporate Technology in St. Petersburg. Mr. Joe Kaeser, CFO on behalf of Siemens AG and Prof. Dmitriy Puzankov, Rector of ETU signed the document. Dr. Martin Gitsels, Head of Corporate Technology department in Russia and Prof. Alexey Ivanov, Director of International Projects office at ETU arranged the event.

FP7 Project ICPC NanoNet kick-off meeting has been held in Linnean Society, Burlington House, Piccadilly, London. Professors Alexey Ivanov and Victor Luchinin represented the ETU and made presentation ETU St. Petersburg Electrotechnical University – “LETI”

International Workshop on Ferroelectric Physics has been held at ETU in the frame of the 18th Russian National Conference on Ferroelectric Physics. Researchers from 9 foreign countries (France, Germany, Japan, Swiss and others) made 11 presentations.

15-th International Student Seminar in Microwave and Optical Applications of Novel Physical Phenomena has been held at ETU. The Seminar covered thirteen topics, including: Microwave ferroelectrics and ferromagnetics, Tuneable materials and devices. Students from Russian Federation, Great Britain, Spain, Finland, Turkey, Germany and other European countries have made more 30 presentations.

The Institute of Chemical Process Fundamentals, Czech Republic and the ETU represented by Prof. Victor Gusarov (PC department) submitted joint proposal "Nanostructured membranes based on polymer-inorganic composites consisting of nanotubes with the chrysotile structure" for Call FP7-NMP-2008-SMALL-2 in area "Nanostructured membranes".

The ETU as Coordinator (the first time) represented by Prof. Irina B. Vendik (MET department) with six European partners submitted joint proposal "Tuneable composite nanostructured metamaterials" for Call FP7-NMP-2008-SMALL-2 in area "Nanostructured meta-materials".

The International Projects Office staff under Prof. Alexey Ivanov is involved in FP7, NMP, CSA "A web-based repository of nanoscience and nanotechnology publications, database of researchers and online forum, to inform and facilitate networking between EU and ICPC RTD" (ICPCNanoNet) Project, coordinated by Institute of Nanotechnology, UK.

Commission of European Community has officially registered ETU as FP7 Participant. ETU has met compulsory requirement for FP7 beneficiaries.
