Rector's message

To live and study in a foreign country is a challenge and opportunity that you should not miss.
Being one of the oldest technical higher schools in Russia and oldest higher school of electrical engineering in Europe St. Petersburg Electrotechnical University is famous for unique combination of academic process and science and research in its everyday activities. The University was always at the advanced post of research in the fields of Radio-Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Computer Science. Academic life and research always contributed to each other to the benefit of the development in the University. International students and researchers play a very important role in University life and international cooperation is a very important trend of University development since the fifties.
ETU has a big campus situated in the historical part of St. Petersburg .It is next doors to the oldest garden of St. Petersburg – Botanic Garden and to highest landmark of the city – the TV tower of St. Petersburg. And that is very symbolic that the University famous for the fact that Prof. Alexander Popov the inventor of wireless communication was its first elected director is situated close to the second largest radio and TV communication centres in Russia after Moscow.
In ETU communication is studied both in the frames of technical programs and at the faculty of Humanities which appeared in ETU in the 90s.Thus interdisciplinary approach in studies and research in ETU received one more and bright facet.
To become an international student of our University means to become a member of big family of students, professors and researchers and a part of the creative process. At ETU students are able to play an active role in the learning process.
The tradition of the University also makes it easier for students and their teachers to get to know one another.
There is a great potential for integrated activities in our University and a great cultural impact you will experience studying in one of the oldest St. Petersburg higher schools.
I extend to you my personal invitation to join St. Petersburg Electrotechnical University and share the learning, research and cultural environment of both University and the city of St. Petersburg.
