![]() Who can become a student? To gain admission to ÅTU's Bachelor Degree program, international student should have successfully completed secondary education body in their home country and a relevant certificate. To gain admission to ETU's Master Degree or Ph.D. studies, international student should have successfully completed Bachelor's or Master's program in one of the national or Russian higher education institutions in the relevant fields of science. International exchange students may be accepted for non-degree studies on the courses and programs taught in Russian. All international students are offered a beginner's course in Russian. Those applicants who have no command in Russian and want to receive full program education in one of the fields taught in Russian are invited for a one-year preliminary Russian language course. No special prerequisites are necessary for the Russian language course. Application procedure To become an ETU student you must apply to the Dean's Office for Foreign Students. Application forms can be obtained from this site www.eltech.ru Exchange students are selected by their home universities. Applications for admission have to include an endorsed copy of the Certificate of Secondary or Higher Education, a medical certificate, a copy of the birth certificate. Registration Where preliminary registration is indicated, you will receive a letter of confirmation for the course you have applied to and are eligible for. The final registration will be undertaken after your arrival to the University by the international coordinators at the Dean's Office for Foreign students. Documentation After you have successfully completed your course, a transcript of records, listing all the courses taken can be obtained from the international coordinator of the Dean's Office for Foreign students. Host country formalities To enter Russia foreign citizens need to receive an entrance visa to their national passport. Before leaving your home country you must have applied for and obtained a visa to enter Russia. Application should be made at the Russian Embassy/Consulate in your home country. When you apply you must be prepared to submit the following documents: - passport -a letter of acceptance from ETU -visa support letter from the Russian Internal Affairs Ministry. To receive the visa support letter you must send a copy of your national passport and your home address to the ETU Dean's Office for Foreign Students. You will receive the required document at the earliest convenience. Don't forget to bring your passport and visa and remember that it must be valid for the duration of your stay. National passports must be registered at the internal affairs authorities during 3 days after your arrival. Apply for that to the Dean's Office for Foreign Students. Make sure that all your documents are originals since photocopies are not accepted. This application process may take some time, so make sure that you apply in time. Scholarships Scholarships to study in Russia are available at the Ministry of Education and Science of Russian Federation. You can apply for such scholarship through the Ministry of higher education at your home country or another relevant organisation. Smoking and alcohol Smoking is only allowed in special designated areas within the university precincts. It is forbidden to attend courses under the influence of alcohol. Medical Insurance Saint-Petersburg Electrotechnical University "LETI" has the contracts with the insurance companies "RESO-garantya" and “Russian World”. Foreign students must sign life and health insurance contracts. There are also two voluntary programs of medical insurance. The first is meant to pay off outlay for out-patient treatment and the second is for hospitalisation. The cost of the services is about 80$ and 110-125$ per year correspondingly. The cost of insurance differs for students residing on the territory of the Commonwealth of the Independent States. For them life and health insurance costs 60$ per year. The program of health insurance does not include medical services in the number of areas (dental, for example). ![]() |
